Directions To Downtown Memphis

Local road route -- Start at the intersection of Wolf River Blvd and Houston Levee Road

  • Go north on Houston Levee Road for about 2.7 miles,
  • Turn left (west) onto Walnut Grove Road, travel about 12.4 miles
      Caution: Be aware of road construction as you approach Interstate 240.
  • Turn left (south) onto Highland Street, travel one block to the next traffic light,
  • Turn right (west) onto Poplar Avenue, travel about 6.2 miles.
  • Stay on Highway 72 / Poplar Avenue until it ends at Front Street in downtown Memphis,
      This will be all city driving with traffic, stoplights, etc. This route goes through some upscale neighborhoods.
  • Turn left (south) onto Front St, travel about one-third mile.
  • Turn right (west) onto Court Avenue. Park on either side of Court Avenue.
      Parking meters are 75 cents per hour.

    Alternate Local road route -- Start at the intersection of Wolf River Blvd and Houston Levee Road

  • Go south on Houston Levee Road for about 3.0 miles,
  • Turn right (west) onto Highway 72 / Poplar Avenue, travel about 19.6 miles.
  • Stay on Highway 72 / Poplar Avenue until it ends at Front Street in downtown Memphis,
      This will be all city driving with traffic, stoplights, etc. This route is almost all commercial/business..
  • Turn left (south) onto Front St, travel about one-third mile.
  • Turn right (west) onto Court Avenue. Park on either side of Court Avenue.
      Parking meters are 75 cents per hour.

    Highway route -- Start at the intersection of Wolf River Blvd and Houston Levee Road

  • Go south on Houston Levee Road for about 3.3 miles,
  • Turn left (east) onto Winchester Road, travel for about six-tenths mile,
  • Turn right (south) onto Baily Station Road, travel about 1.0 mile,
  • Turn right (west) onto Highway 385 / Bill Morris Parkway / Nonconnah Parkway, travel about 10.1 miles,
  • Exit left (west) onto Interstate 240 towards Little Rock, travel about 14.6 miles,
      At the I-240/I-55 junction, continue straight on Interstate 55 towards St Louis. Stay on Interstate 55 until it ends and becomes Riverside Drive south of downtown Memphis.
  • Continue on Riverside Drive (north) for 1.6 miles.
  • Turn right (east) onto Court Avenue. Park on either side of Court Avenue.
      Parking meters are 75 cents per hour.
      Warning: If you don't turn onto Court Avenue or one of the next two streets, you will end up on Interstate 40.
